Climacium Japonicum

Climacium Japonicum is native to China and then Japan, its particularity is a miniature palm tree in the aquatic environment. Known as a riparium plant, it  also fits well in aquariums.
Climacium Japonicum has a robust brown stem of a few inches and  on top shows the magnificent fallen leaves, giving the appearance of a palm tree. If planted in the shade has a beautiful olive green color, in bright light turns red and then brown.
This beautiful plant requires a water temperature between 15-27 °C  (59-80 °F) and a pH of 6-7.5. It is considered to be a good refuge for several species of small fish.

  1. A couple of questions.

    What are its light requirements?
    Is it invasive?
    Does it require CO2?

  2. As I said, depends where is panted, it grows well both at shadow and in bright light. I don't know if is invasive or not, but if someone has this plant in their tanks, please tell if you've noticed something characteristic about it. As most aquarium plants, it grows well if the co2 concentration from the water is high.

  3. Having a diverse and wide selection of freshwater aquarium plants can allow fish enthusiasts to choose what is best for their tank. They may opt for the conventional ones or they can come and experiment with these new plants such as the Climacium Japonicum.
